Women in AI & Robotics and DFKI organize Robotics Hackathon for young women

The goal of the hackathon is to give young women an insight into robotics and kindle their interest in it. The participants would get a chance to learn the core concepts of robotics and write their first program to solve an interesting task with a mobile robot in a simulation environment.

Prerequisites:
For whom? Women between 16 to 25 years of age
Skills: Basic maths, basic knowledge of any programming language, English

Event format:
When: 24th - 26th June 2022
Mode: Hybrid (24th - online and onsite, 25th and 26th - only online)
Begins at: 24th June at 14:00 CEST
Ends at: 26th June at 16:00 CEST
Where: DFKI Robotics Innovation Center (Robert-Hooke-Str. 1, Bremen) and Zoom
Language of instruction: English

Highlights:

  • Keynote presentation on "Introduction to Robotics" provided by Mihaela Popescu, a Ph.D. student and lecturer at the Robotics Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Bremen.
  • Robotics experts from the community and the DFKI Robotics Innovation Center as mentors.
  • The opportunity to meet young rolemodels from the fields of robotics and computer science.
  • The opportunity to work in teams to solve a robot navigation task in simulation.
  • A certificate of participation for all participants of the hackathon.
