Dr. Sirko Straube on “Wissen um 11”
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11 a.m., Dr. Sirko Straube will give a lecture at Wissen um 11 titled “AI Agents and Robotics in Tomorrow’s Society: Who Has the Authority to Make Decisions?” Straube is deputy director and research division manager at the Robotics Innovation Center of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), which focuses on the research and development of autonomous robots in various application areas (underwater, space, land). He has approximately 20 years of professional experience in the fields of human-machine interaction, neuroscience, and robotics, and has expertise in AI, sustainable software development, intuitive interaction, and the transfer of innovations.
The Lecture
The lecture will contextualize current developments in artificial intelligence and their significance for AI agents and robotic systems. What has been achieved, and where do AI systems still need new capabilities? From this, we can also deduce how AI systems—and robots in particular—can be deployed, and where they are helpful versus where they are more of a hindrance. The lecture will also explore the question of how our society is called upon to engage with these new technologies.
