System description
DFKI is operating a fleet of seven PlaDyPos autonomous surface vehicles (ASV).
PlaDyPos are small unmanned water vehicles that can act remotely or autonomously, performing different tasks individually or as a team.
Depending on the application, the systems can be equipped with a variety of payloads and sensors. Typical tasks include reconnaissance and taking measurements. This can be used, for example, to monitor the water quality of rivers and lakes.
The PlaDyPos systems are controlled by ROS, an open source software framework for robotics. Adaptations and extensions are thus easily possible.
Thus, the PlaDyPos fleet also serves the DFKI as a development platform for new algorithms in the field of maritime robotics.
