In this talk, the goals of the recently started European Project FourByThree will be presented. After a brief description of the administrative data and the role of the DFKI in the project, an introduction to the area of physical human-robot interaction will be given in which we will see the methods to achieve safety in a human-robot cooperation within an industrial setting. This will include safety mechanisms both by design of the robot and by control or supervision software by referring to the current ISO 10218 standard in the area of industrial robots. Moreover, an overview of the currently commercially available "intrinsically" safe robots will be given. The presentation will end with a short outlook into the design and control concepts to be used for the new generation of elastic actuators to be developed at DFKI for the project.
