The goal of the project CSurvey is the development of a semi-autonomous inspection unit which can be mounted on underwater vehicles and which provides the ability to detect anomalies at underwater structures as well as ship hulls. The CSurvey head is an integrated System which has its own intelligence on board and does the sensor processing and inspection autonomously with respect to the AUV control system. CSurvey uses a multi-modal sensor system consisting of structured light and a sonar system.
The first part of CSurvey, which has been finished now, dealt mainly with the engineering part of the inspection head. The head has been built, tested, integrated on the target Vehicle (SeaCat of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK).
The project is a sub-project within the project CView. The inspection unit of the CSurvey project will be mounted on the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) "Seewolf" and will receive the required information regarding localization from this host system. The other partners in the CView project are:
ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH (ATLAS)
Hochschule Bremen (IWSS)
Fraunhofer Anwendungszentrum Systemtechnik - Ilmenau (FhAST)
Fraunhofer Institut für Biomedizinische Technik - St. Ingbert (IBMT)
