As full-fledged driving simulation software for the evaluation of automotive applications is high in price and low cost simulators often lack of extensibility, OpenDS was initiated to provide a basic simulation toolkit to the researcher community. The development of the open-source driving simulator started at DFKI in 2011 driven by various projects and has become a popular instrument in academia and industry today. This talk introduces the project and details the features with regard to software and hardware.
