Field tests are indispensable to verify the robustness and functionality of field robots under realistic operating conditions. Only field tests can reveal design flaws and other shortcomings that would otherwise remain undetected. 

Over the last years, DFKI RIC organized an impressive number of field tests, ranging from a one-day test of Flatfish in a nearby lake to full scale multi-week analogue missions in Lanzarote, Morocco and even the US.

Through these field tests, DFKI RIC could build up not only a large repository of field equipment, but also considerable know-how with respect to the organization of such projects. 

In this BBT, we would like to share this know-how with the rest of the DFKI RIC team. The objective is to make you aware of what is available at DFKI RIC, in terms of equipment and personnel resources, and to share with you our most relevant lessons learnt when it comes to organizing and managing a field test.
