As part of the PERIOD operational grand of the European Horizon 2020 PERASPERA project, a standard interconnect for modular spacecraft is to be defined.
The standard interconnect (SI) shall provide a unified way to connect spacecraft modules mechanically, electrically and with data buses, also, optionally, thermal and/or fluid transfer capabilities might be included.
The SI will also be used by a robotic manipulator to exchange or replace modules.
This modular concept is supposed to improve reuseability and serviceability of spacecraft by robotic means.
To define such a standard, multiple (three) candidates for the SI are going to be benchmarked.
The candidate SI, recommended by the benchmark, will then be used in the orbital demonstration mission of PERIOD.
This presentation shows the progress of the practical work for my master thesis and describes the planned activities for the remainder of the thesis.
