Maritime Exploration Hall
The 1,300 m² Maritime Exploration Hall serves to test new robotic technologies on and under water. Everyday missions of the offshore industry are simulated, maneuvers are carried out and skills of future systems are demonstrated.
Space Exploration Hall
The 288 square meter space exploration hall allows to test space robots under realistic conditions. Systems can demonstrate their skills in the nine meters wide crater test area within the test hall and with a height of ten meters, the space hall provides enough space for testing flight systems as well as interactions between satellites and robots.

The robot test track is an outdoor testing facility with 15 challenging obstacles and an area of more than 500m². The obstacles can be used for performance evaluation of walking, driving and climbing robots.
Virtual Reality Lab
To give an spatially impression the projection in the Virtual Reality Lab is stereoscopic and consists of five elements. Each of the five elements is illuminated by two projectors to generate the stereoscopic image.
Pressure Chamber Lab
In our Pressure Chamber Lab we perform various types of tests, for example material tests. The Pressure Chamber can generate a maximum pressure of 660 bar which corresponds to 6600m water depth.
EEG Shielding Cabin
The Shielding Cabin gives us the the opportunity, to perform EEG/EMG-measurements, without the influence of electro magnetic noises. Inside the Shielding Cabin influences from the outside like light, temperature and surrounding sounds can be controlled.
The Tekscan pressure-sensor-system is a measurement system for capturing, displaying, and analyzing ground reaction forces and consists of different foil sensors for different sizes and loads that can be used either separately or as one big sensor map. It is used for analyzing gaits, foot concepts, and soles.
In the LegLab legs of walking robots are evaluated. In order to qualify the components, continuous stress tests, peak load texts and movement tests are carried out. In addition, the installation is used to test and optimize prototypes of new leg designs for running, climbing, and walking robots.
Workshops and Foundries
In order to meet the special requirements of the robotics department, the electronics are in-house designed, constructed, and integrated. In the electronics lab electronic modules are assembled, tested and integrated. In the mechanical workshop we produce in the main prototypes and support-material.
